Encyclopedia Project: History of exponential functions
1. What would you do differently if you were exhibiting your project again?
If I were to do this project differently to exhibit it again, I would have made my slides more simple and less repetitive. As I was presenting, I often found that each slide was similar to the previous. I would like to have put a little more work into it, so that everything was more concise and varied. Also, I would have made sure that everything was organized, because some things in my Prezi were on the wrong side. If I had been a little more prepared, this organization probably wouldn’t be an issue.
2. What do you see as your greatest strengths and weaknesses moving forward into future math classes?
I think that one of my greatest strengths is perseverance. This will help me greatly in the future because I will need to persevere to continually put effort into my work and to not give up when something because it’s hard. I will always have to persevere so that I get things done. More specifically, my strength has been finishing all of my work, even when I don’t want to. There have been a few instances where I haven’t been very motivated to do my homework, but I end up getting it done in class the same day it is assigned. This will help me in the future so that I can stay on top of assignments.
In the past, it has been hard for me to be confident in math. This continues to be something that I need to improve upon, making it one of my weaknesses. I usually feel as though I’m doing pretty well with homework, but when we take a test, my confidence drops and I become unsure of my answers. Sometimes, I even change my answers and the original answer was correct. I will continue to work on this, by studying harder and more so that I can be sure of my answers.

Project ReflectionWhat did you learn from this project?
In this project, I learned about the reasons behind concepts that we use frequently. I learned why exponential functions can be important. This helped me understand how they would be useful in the "real world", rather than being just a page in a textbook. I learn by understanding first why I’m learning the concept, and how it will help me later. This project helped me understand how I will be able to carry this information with me in the future, and why it is here in the first place. What would you do differently next time? If I were to do this project again or even just to change it, I would find more relevant sources. I think that it would be easier to complete this project because we had not completed the exponential functions and logarithms chapter, so I did some research that I wouldn't have had to do if we had already read the chapter. If you were to improve the encyclopedia, what would you add or change? If I were to improve the encyclopedia, I would have everyone work on different documents, and then combine them at the end. I thought that it was difficult to try to work on the same document, especially when putting in citations, as everything got jumbled. It became very important to be able to quickly locate sources and citations, but because everyone's were in the same place, it was hard to find them. |

Semester exam project
I was really glad we did this project because it helped me understand concepts that I was confused about. For example, I struggled with graphing parabolas. This project not only helped me further understand the concepts, but it also helped me understand the smaller details and the reasoning behind these things. It has helped me get a concrete understanding of things that I was previously unsure about, to give me confidence.
To study for the upcoming exam, I will fully fill out my study guide and advocate for myself when I need help. I will then review my study guide and look at my notes to try to figure out where I may have holes. This will help me strengthen my weaknesses and help me feel more prepared for the exam so I don't completely stress myself out. This has been very helpful to me during tests and quizzes, so that I am confident and can go into a test or quiz feeling good.
Overall, I have had a great semester in math. I have learned that hard work pays off and that in order to maintain good grades, you must always be on top of your work because if you aren’t, work starts piling up quickly. My strength so far has been keeping on top of my work. One of my weaknesses has been stressing out over little things that I shouldn’t worry so much about. All in all, I’ve have a very productive semester in math and I have learned a lot.
